Keeping the discipline pure

The direct meaning of my first name "Jasper" is "treasure keeper". Now, this has had a profound influence on my life in that I am protective of any type of "treasure". In particular then, I am protective of assets, and also specifically of the theories surrounding assets.

Unfortunately, the Asset Management field is full of poor theory, and poor terminology.

I have thus over time acquired a reputation that I am somewhat of a purist. But, all of this is in the interest of "doing the right things right", and thus further business profitability, as the figure indicates.

A few of the areas in which bad theory holds back the deployment of excellent maintenance practice, are the following:

  1. Engineers in general lacks an understanding of failure and its analysis. Forensics, Physical causes, etc.A lack of proper statistical training of maintenance engineers.
